The Nippon FoundationHi Toilet

TBWA\HAKUHODO

Hi Toilet is the world’s first voice-activated, hands-free toilet.
It was opened to the public in July 2021 as part of “THE TOKYO TOILET,” a project to design new public restrooms sponsored by Tokyo’s Shibuya-ku and The Nippon Foundation.
Hi Toilet is a public installation that was designed to be universally accessible both as a physical and interactive experience. The final design was completed through repeated trial and error of training the AI and positioning the mics to create a truly user-friendly experience. The spherical design replaces the air in the room after each use to create a new benchmark in ventilation engineering.

By combining contactless experiential design and architectural design that has clean air in mind, we created a public restroom that meets the needs of today.
